The Pink Place – support for men and women affected by cancer

Providing wellbeing services, information, counselling, support and social events for men and women affected by cancer in North Hampshire, The Pink Place is all about compassionate support.

The team behind The Pink Place

Founded in 2010 by Julia Dingwall and Janis Taylor, The Pink Place is based in Basingstoke and was born of a very special friendship. When Julia was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, she had her hair cut and cared for during and after treatment by Janis, owner of Taylors Hair and Beauty Salon. They decided that there was a need for a local centre, away from the clinical hospital environment to provide a friendly, warm and welcoming space providing compassion and support.

What they do to support cancer patients

When the centre first opened, it offered (free) therapies, support and advice to ladies with breast cancer. This later expanded to ladies with any form of cancer and eventually to men as well, through The Blue Space. They have won awards for the service that they offer, but most importantly, they receive wonderful feedback from individuals who feel cared for during a difficult time.
