Liverpool Mummies with Cancer - support from people on a similar journey

A support group in the Liverpool area, Liverpool Mummies with Cancer was set up to help mums with cancer to have a sense of community around them and prevent a sense of isolation during their cancer journey.

The team behind Liverpool Mummies with Cancer

Liverpool Mummies with Cancer was set up by Anastasia McCrave Carroll, following her own cancer journey. Anastasia was diagnosed with grade three triple negative inflammatory breast cancer, aged 33, when her son was eight months old. She underwent gruelling chemotherapy treatment, but during the process experienced a profound sense of loneliness.

When she realised there wasn’t a support group for young mums with cancer, or who have survived cancer to share their experiences, her frustration quickly turned to determination, and she created her own. She contacted Clare Bowers of Mum Boss UK who runs Liverpool Ladies Network, and the group has grown from there.

What they do to support cancer patients

Based on a similar premise to the Liverpool Ladies Network free to attend networking coffee mornings which connects women across the city region, in May 2019, Liverpool Mummies got together for their first coffee/tea/Prosecco and cake afternoon.

It was a great success and every woman left feeling like it was the start of something. The initiative has grown from there, offering a variety of support, focused on communication but also offering more as well.
