The Well Being Beauty Collection, as reviewed by Verite Collins

Verite Collins used to work as a Beauty Editor for a US Travel magazine, where she developed a strong interest in skincare.  When she got cancer, she came out in skin lesions as a side effect of the drugs. As a result, every skincare product that Verite uses, has to be subjected to rigorous tests, to ensure that they are not only effective, but effective for cancer patients.

When Jennifer Young sent me details of their Chakra Oil and Crystals Collection, I didn't think it was for me. Since cancer treatment, like long-covid sufferers, I've lost much of my sense of smell, and the Well Being Beauty Chakra Collection was using aromatherapy to provide benefits. After using the products however, I realised I that I could still take advantage of the Well Being Beauty products. Although my sense of smell was diminished, the benefits of using the products were still there.

Glamorous package

I decided that products containing Lavender would be best. I have read that during World War I, Lavender was used as an antiseptic in field hospitals, as it is believed to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. So, during the Covid crisis this had to be an extra plus (although I would never recommend replacing your hand washing and sanitiser with a skincare routine).

Soon, Dave the postman was handing over a glamorous package in a shiny envelope. Inside were:

  • Well Being Beauty Sleep Ritual Shea Moisturising Mousse
  • Well Being Beauty Calming Bath Oil
  • Well Being Beauty Calming Body Oil
  • Well Being Beauty Throat Chakra Oil & Crystal

Immediately I dived into the Sleep Ritual Shea Moisturising Mousse. Ever since my cancer drugs produced skin lesions all over my body, my skin has been compromised - to say the least.  As I smoothed in the mousse, I could literally see my skin soaking it up. Now that feels fantastic, and I don't need to worry about the lack of smell (although I am delighted there is a faint one), as I can see that it is benefitting me and my skin.

I had to go for a hospital appointment this week. As the nurse was rubbing antiseptic on my arm ready to do her vampire act, she looked at my arm and said "you do have lovely skin", so that was a nice seal of approval! I now use the mousse every morning, and it really is super-moisturising. It makes me feel very happy, which is surely what it's all about!

Next out of the package was the Well Being Beauty Calming Bath Oil. This went into a relaxing bath after a fraught day. Formulated to promote relaxation, the blend of essential oils were chosen for their harmonious properties. As I lay back in the bath, it gently cleaned my sensitive skin, and calmed an itchy patch that was attempting to erupt (as it does every so often). I now use this oil at night when I want to soak away the cares of the day, or sometimes in the morning when I want extra protection for my skin before going out to face snow or winter winds.

Just one thing I should mention - make sure you hold onto grab handles when getting in and out of the bath, as the oil can make it slippery.

Following my bath, I had the luxury of two products to moisturise and protect my body skin: the Well Being Beauty Sleep Ritual Shea Mousse mentioned before and the Well Being Beauty Calming Body Oil, the partner of the Calming Bath Oil.  Like with the Shea Moisturising Mousse, when I used this product, I could visibly see it doing good. I was excited that I could even smell a faint fragrance.

Like all Jennifer Young products, when I use it, the luxurious oil settles as a layer on my skin, which is soon absorbed. It gives me reassurance that something is digging down and trying to help me and my skin. I love the feeling! When I try out a product, I am not really interested in scientific claims, rather I tend to observe the direct effect it has on my skin. My skin has reacted strongly in the past to poor products, relying on packaging rather than good ingredients. I have noticed that if my skin likes something, then it must be pretty special!

My skin and body certainly liked the Throat Chakra Oil & CrystalI am always preaching how important it is if one wants to look young, to look after throat and hands, citing Immigration officials who check our hands and necks for true signs of age. And of course, I tend to ignore my own advice. But now I have the Throat Oil, it has become an important part of my nightly regime, with my neck already showing signs of improvement. Thinking ahead, this is going to be really useful in the summer, as the sun can catch us under the chin and wreaks havoc if we don't take care.

Even though I might not have been able to obtain all the benefits of the Well Being Beauty Collection, I was able to take full advantage of their lovely ingredients, and using these left me feeling relaxed and definitely more confident as my skin was showing the benefits; I was certainly embracing my positivity!

Just because we have long-term side effects, there is no reason to give up on lovely products!
