A day in the life of a social media guru

Hi, my name is Keating and I am the social media coordinator. This means I work with all departments in the Jennifer Young office, such as the training school manager or the dispatch department, to discover as much as possible about the services we provide. I then create posts and stories to communicate this information via social media. When I am not in the office, I am studying for my degree in Edinburgh. Besides my job and my study, my week involves snowboarding, jogging and socialising with friends. Before moving to the more flexible role of social media coordinator, I worked at Jennifer Young in the dispatch department. My favourite part of the job is the people. The office is full of vibrant, interesting people who are easy to laugh and get along with. I have never experienced such a lovely working environment in which colleagues are so supportive and kind.

Every morning we have a ten-minute meeting, which each office member takes in turn to lead. That is what I initially found most challenging about my role, however I soon realised that it feels less like leading and more like teamwork as the departments work through each identified issue together. A weekly challenge I face when based in Edinburgh is scheduling not only time to create the social media posts, but also time for gathering the relevant information from my colleagues. In facing this challenge I am eternally grateful for our groupchat! My favourite Jennifer Young product is either the morning serum because it keeps my skin SO healthy and smooth (vital for the university lifestyle) or the foot soak, which I use as a bath salt, to relax in the bath after snowboarding. I don’t recall what animal I said I would be in my interview, but I look like a sloth according to everyone and I can live with that.
